Summer 2010: July 12 - August 6
High school sophomores, juniors and graduating seniors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a world of professional art through PrattMWP's summer Pre-College Art Program. This innovative four-week intensive college-level program runs from July 12 through August 6 and allows high school students to take classes and receive college credits at a nationally accredited art college, while experiencing college life in the PrattMWP residence halls.
The PrattMWP curriculum combines academic excellence with hands-on studio work. The highly structured Pre-College curriculum, modeled after Pratt's Bachelor of Fine Arts program, includes four mandatory courses: an elective of choice (two credits), a foundation course (two credits), an art history appreciation course, and a portfolio development course. Students choose from electives in painting and drawing, digital imaging, jewelry/metal arts, and illustration. At the conclusion of the program, students receive four college credits that can apply to the PrattMWP program or to other colleges.
The Pre-College Art Program is ideal for students who want to experience college-level study with classmates who share similar interests; and for students who want to expose themselves to college-level study, improve their portfolios and explore various levels of art before applying to college.
