PrattMWP Fast Facts

The Office of Admissions handles all inquiries, admissions decisions and all immigration issues including the preparation of I-20s for international students. Once the student is enrolled, the Office of International Admissions provides a wide variety of services to help the student adjust to his or her new educational, cultural, and social environment.

Applying to PrattMWP

To apply as an international student, complete the online application after reading the application requirements for your level: freshman or transfer.

English Language Test Scores and Conditional Admit

International applicants whose first language is not English must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) exam or the IELTS and have the results sent by the application deadline. Register online at www.toefl.org for the TOEFL. International students who have taken the SAT or ACT test may submit SAT or ACT test scores instead of the TOEFL or IELTS. A TOEFL score of 530 (paper) or 71 (internet) is required. Pratt's TOEFL code is 2669. The required IELTS score for is a 5.5.

International Students in need of ESL program

International applicants whose first language is not English will be conditionally accepted at Pratt MWP and will be tested for ESL program placement. Students may be placed for up to one year of study in ESL coursework while concurrently completing other PrattMWP coursework.

PrattMWP welcomes international students

International applicants must submit official transcripts (academic records) of all secondary school studies as well as any post-secondary studies. Applicants also must submit official results of all external examinations. These would include: General Certificate of Education, Hong Kong School Certificate of Education, Israeli matriculation or Bagrut, Secondary School Certificates and Baccalaureate Part I and Part II.

Transcripts must be translated into English. Students who have studied outside the US (other than Japan and Korea) are required to submit a World Education Services (WES) evaluation of their transcript(s) to expedite their application processing. WES evaluations do not include translations. The document must be officially translated into English before submitting to WES or any other reputable education evaluation service, e.g., your embassy.

International Scholarships; International Merit Awards

Pratt provides international merit-based awards to international accepted applicants based on their portfolios, grades, and TOEFL scores. The international merit awards range from $2,000 to $12,500 a year for two years of study at PrattMWP.

Upon completion of the two year program at PrattMWP, international students are re-evaluated by the Pratt Brooklyn campus for merit based awards at Pratt. There is no separate application necessary for international merit awards. All international applicants who are accepted and who qualify are offered the international merit award within their acceptance letter.
