Student Activities

The mission of Student Activities is to maximize student personal and academic growth and development by providing a variety of opportunities for involvement, service, and leadership development through co-curricular activities.

Student Involvement and Organizations

Student Council

The Student Council maintains primary responsibility for all student interests and involvement at PrattMWP. The Student Council has an executive committee and all students are encouraged to become involved. Our Student Council consists of a President, Vice President, Secretary/ Treasurer, 2 Sophomore Class Representatives and 2 Freshman Class Representatives. The main function of the council is to represent the student viewpoint. So it is critical that your voice be brought to the table. The Student Life Director serves as the advisor to the Student Council.

PrattMWP Activities Committee (PAC)
  • Provides social and educational events on campus meant to entertain build upon the students skill sets. PAC is broken up into four areas.
  • PAC Thursday’s – Major performances happen every Thursday night.Events range from Comedians, Musicians, Magicians, Hypnotists, Mentalists, to Open Mic Nights and Karaoke nights.
  • Special Events – Events that happen on the weekends.Events include, PrattMWP field days and BBQ, Halloween Party, Holiday Party, Zombie Prom, trips off campus, and anything else that students can think of.
  • Game Shows – Events on campus where students can compete against their peers in spirited competition to win prizes.
  • Community Involvement and Volunteerism – This is a chance for students to get out into the community to make a difference in Utica. Past projects have included; Habitat for Humanity, Hope House, a mural for the Humane Society, a mural for the Utica Fire Department, Notre Dame Elementary School’s Halloween Party, and many more.

 

Student Gallery Committee

Our Student Art Gallery, named for Dr. Clyde McCulley, retired Dean of the School of Art, exhibits shows of student work for two-week periods throughout the academic year.

A Student Gallery Committee of students and a faculty advisor choose students' works to exhibit with most time slots filled by the work of three to four students at a time. Every two weeks, a new exhibition opens and refreshments are served. A member of the faculty serves as the advisor to the Student Gallery Committee.

Leadership Development Opportunities

Student Mentors

Student Ambassadors play a vital role to PrattMWP. Along with serving as Opening Week Leaders, Student Ambassadors help with Family and Alumni Weekend, Open Houses, Accepted Student reception, and other school events as needed.

Student Leadership Program

The PrattMWP Leadership Program provides students organizations with training sessions to help their organization run more effectively and more efficiently. The program will also help first time leaders find their leadership styles, while offering current leaders the chance to hone their skills.

The following sessions are offered to student organizations:

  • Recruiting and Retaining members
  • How to go about getting funding
  • Advertising
  • How to plan for an event
  • The Freshmen/Sophomore Leadership Transition

 

Fitness and Recreational Activities

Fitness activities are provided at the nearby YWCA where each student is uses the PrattMWP membership. The YWCA welcomes both female and male students.

The YWCA is located at 100 Cornelia St., which is within walking distance from the school. Students enjoy the use of Nautilus (female only in this one area) and free weight equipment, a cardio room, and swimming. Students also have the opportunity to participate in many fitness classes: aerobics, step, tai bo and more. The phone number is 315-732-2159.

Intramural program: Sports offered: Indoor and outdoor soccer, basketball, volleyball, speed minton, kickball, kan jam, and more sports to come.

 

Utica College agreement:

PrattMWP has an agreement in place with Utica College where with your student ID all PrattMWP students can use the Utica College fitness center and athletic facilities. PrattMWP students can also join Utica College intramural events as well as attend any games for student prices.
