Student Activities

The mission of Student Activities is to maximize student personal and academic growth and development by providing a variety of opportunities for involvement, service, and leadership development through co-curricular activities.

Student Involvement and Organizations

Student Council
The Student Council maintains primary responsibility for all student interests and involvement at PrattMWP. The Student Council has an executive committee and all students are encouraged to become involved. Our Student Council consists of a President, Vice President, Secretary/ Treasurer, 2 Sophomore Class Representatives and 2 Freshman Class Representatives. The main function of the council is to represent the student viewpoint. So it is critical that your voice be brought to the table. The Student Life Director serves as the advisor to the Student Council.

Student Life Activities Board
The Student Life Activities Board coordinates both our student mentor program and a well-balanced program of social and educational activities for the entire PrattMWP student community. Participation on the Student Life Activities Board leads to developing lifelong friendships and memories that can last a lifetime. The Student Activities Coordinator serves as the advisor to the Student Life Activities Board.

Student Gallery Committee
Our Student Art Gallery, named for Dr. Clyde McCulley, retired Dean of the School of Art, exhibits shows of student work for two-week periods throughout the academic year.

A Student Gallery Committee of students and a faculty advisor choose students' works to exhibit with most time slots filled by the work of three to four students at a time. Every two weeks, a new exhibition opens and refreshments are served. A member of the faculty serves as the advisor to the Student Gallery Committee.

Leadership Development Opportunities

Student Mentors
Each year several sophomore students are selected to serve as Student Mentors. This is a volunteer opportunity coordinated through Student Activities. Student Mentors participate as leaders in Orientation, as Student Life Activities Board members, and gain valuable leadership skills. The mentors help new students become familiar with the PrattMWP experience through developing a variety of program opportunities.

The Art of Leadership
The Student Life Division offers students the formal opportnuity to develop their leadership skills through participation in The Art of Leadership Institute. This program helps new students get involved in leadership positions on campus and helps them acquire the necessary skills to successfully hold leadership positions here on campus in their future. Students who participate in this program have the unique opportunity to add the essential elements of leadership to their academic and artistic experiences to create an expansive and well rounded professional portfolio. The program is designed to enhance leadership skills and potential; foster interpersonal, social, ethical and moral development; and instill an attitude of social awareness and responsibility. Participation in the Leadership Institute offers the opportunity for students to create not only memories of a lifetime, but the skills of a lifetime, too. Students who complete the entire program by assuming a student leadership role in their Sophomore year will become a Certified Leader.

Fitness and Recreational Activities

Fitness activities are provided at the nearby YWCA where each student is uses the PrattMWP membership. The YWCA welcomes both female and male students.

The YWCA is located at 100 Cornelia St., which is within walking distance from the school. Students enjoy the use of Nautilus (female only in this one area) and free weight equipment, a cardio room, and swimming. Students also have the opportunity to participate in many fitness classes: aerobics, step, tai bo and more. The phone number is 315-732-2159.
