• Click the "Apply Online" link for First-Year Applicants. 
• Create an account or log in on CommonApp's website and go to your Dashboard. 
• Click on the "College Search" tab and search for "Pratt Munson." 
• Choose "Pratt Institute" from the options. 
• Click "Add College" to add Pratt Institute to your "My Colleges" tab. 
• Fill out the online application form, selecting the campus/campuses you want to apply to under the "Academics" section. 
  • If applying to both campuses, select Pratt Institute (Main Campus) and a program for the main campus. Then select "Yes" to apply to Pratt Munson and choose a major for Pratt Munson. 
  • If applying only to Pratt Munson, select Pratt Munson (Extension Campus) and a program. 
• Complete the rest of the application, ensuring that all required information is provided. 
• CommonApp will notify you if anything is missing before you can submit your application. 

• Click the "Apply Online" link for Transfer Applicants.  
• Create an account on Pratt Institute's application portal. 
• Select the "Undergraduate Transfer Application" from the Application Menu and begin the application. 
• On page 2, choose the campus/campuses you want to apply to. 
  • You can apply to both campuses with one application. 
  • If applying to both campuses, select Pratt Institute and the desired major, then proceed to select Pratt Munson and one of its programs. 
  • If applying only to Pratt Munson, select Pratt Munson and the desired program. 
• Complete the rest of the application.

Am I an international student? You are considered an international student if you are a citizen of any country other than the United States. However, those who hold dual citizenship or are a permanent resident of the United States should apply as a domestic applicant, regardless of your country of residence. For those who are living in the U.S. in undocumented status, you will be reviewed as a domestic student, although you will not be eligible for Federal Aid. Citizenship or visa status does not factor into the admissions review – applicants are considered based on the materials submitted in their application.

International Students Applying to Pratt Munson

• International students will apply as either a first-time high school applicant or transfer applicant. You are considered a transfer applicant if you have completed (or will complete) 12 or more credit hours of study at a college or university.
• To apply as an international student, complete your application using the Common App if you are a first-year high school applicant. Please make sure you use a credit card. The application sites do not accept international debit cards.

International Requirements

• International students follow the same application requirements as domestic applicants.
• Tests of English proficiency. All students for whom English is a second language must submit one of the following accepted exams:
  • TOEFL and TOEFL Home Edition (the minimum score is 71 for 2-year programs)
  • TOEFL ITP Plus (minimum 527 for 2-year programs)
  • PTE (minimum 48 for 2-year programs)
  • IELTS or IELTS Indicator (minimum 6.0 for 2-year programs)
  • Cambridge English (the minimum score is 175 for 2-year programs). Pratt accepts C1 or C2 test results.

  • SAT or ACT (no minimum)

    Please have official scores sent by the testing company. Pratt accepts the TOEFL My Best Score and super scores SAT and ACT tests. Scores must be received by our deadlines. Any test scores must have been taken within one year of submitting an application in order to be considered valid. Pratt no longer accepts Duolingo test scores as of August 1, 2022.

• English Proficiency Waivers
  • International applicants who have studied at a high school in the U.S. for at least three years with academic success may waive the test requirement. Those who have studied in another country where English is an official national language and the mode of instruction may also waive the test requirement with official transcripts that demonstrate at least three full years of academic success.
  • Pratt does NOT waive the test requirement for students who have attended an English-speaking school in a non-English speaking country unless the school is US accredited (e.g. American schools) or an English-speaking IB World school.
  • If you intend to waive your score requirement, select this option on the Common App, and waivers will be issued after your application has been submitted and reviewed for eligibility. Waivers are issued at the discretion of the admissions office.

Preferred Names and Personal Information

• It’s important for international students who will go through a visa process and submit official documents to take extra care when including personal information in their application materials. Included below are some helpful tips to make sure your application and enrollment process are smooth.
• A discrepancy between names, dates, or email addresses or other personal information can cause delays or mis-matching of documents during the application or visa process. It’s important that your information is consistent across all materials submitted. 
• The applications have a space for preferred names, nicknames, and legal names. Things that can prevent us from matching your documents, portfolio or other materials to your file are:
  • Special characters like hyphens, spaces, or accents  
  • Reversal of given and family names 
  • Reversal of month and day for your date of birth (In the US, dates are formatted as MM/DD/YYYY)

International Scholarships

• Pratt Munson awards generous merit-based scholarships to international accepted applicants based on a comprehensive evaluation of their application materials. There is no separate application necessary for scholarship consideration. All international applicants who are admitted will be automatically considered for scholarship.
